After an adventurous 15 years of marriage, Marcus and I embarked on a celebratory anniversary adventure!
Spoiler alert: Turns out, the real adventure happens when grandkids get to hang out with grandparents at grandma’s house for nine days! #GrandparentsAreOurOnlyHope
We ventured up the Pacific Coastal Highway beginning in San Francisco and concluding in Seattle. Marcus was right, driving north felt a little safer than the southbound lane, which tends to be closer to the ledges and cliffs.
Between Marcus and me, I’m the one who enjoys planning trips. For months, it was my great diversion to read other people’s ideas of sights to see, places to stay and food to eat along the way. When I read the Pacific Coastal Highway can be dangerous, rivalling Dolly Parton in the category of curves, we visited attorney Diane Melbye in town and finalized our will. Then, and only then, did we feel fully prepared to embark on this adventure!
This trip was truly an adventure. Looking back, there are things I would do differently, which is simply an ingredient in any of life’s adventures. Even so, I’ll share our adventure here, breaking it up into a few posts. In case you are interested in the whole trip, this should avoid making you feel subjected to an endless, drool-inducing slideshow.
